(This is a transcript of Molly’s story. She left this as a voicemail on our phone.)
The AT&T girl was at my house for like six hours one day. I was like, Oh my gosh, at the end–towards the end–I just thought, You know what Lord? I mean I want to encourage her. I don’t know anything about her and said, “Okay, Lord, what if I asked you. So I sat down and felt like he gave me a picture of her. I wasn’t super confident in the picture, but I just was like, “Okay Lord I know I need to share this with her but I do not want to. This is so embarrassing. I mean please.” I was like, begging him to not have to share this picture.
I ended up going in and just kind of making small talk with her and said, “Okay, I know this might be like, the craziest service call you’ve ever had. But I’ve just been practicing or just learning how to listen to the Lord, and I feel like maybe he might have told me something about you. And I just wanted to know if you’re open to hearing it. And she was like, “Well, yeah.” I ended up sharing that I saw her on a pair of skis going down a mountain, and she was cruising. She was like feet first, headstrong, skis completely parallel, down a steep mountain and she was flying. Like total chaos, out of control. Just going in one direction. And then I felt like somebody came up behind her, and just put his hand on her back and, and then just showed her, taught her, how to like, traverse the mountains. So now she’s like heeding his instruction and going side by side, side to side and in control, and it’s just kind of this beautiful picture of her in the mountains skiing. I told her this and she immediately burst into tears. And she goes, “I know exactly what that is.”
And so anyway, then she’s just like crying and it turns out that she has–she’s a 26-year-old single mom and has a three-year-old autistic son. And she has been not able to get him any healthcare and any therapy or anything for his disabilities and stuff. So the one place that she thought or that she found out could take an insurance and everything was all the way up in Illinois. She was about to leave her whole family and everything she knows in Dallas and just truck her and her son up to Illinois. And so she said, “I just feel like God’s telling me that I need to ask him what I should do.” And I was like, “Yes. So can I pray for you?” And I pray with her. And I’m crying. She’s crying. I pray for healing over her son. And anyway, she was super sweet. And just like, “This is the best service call ever!” Which was just nice. You don’t always get like, that kind of feedback, like somebody’s thankful or appreciative for your crazy visions.
I gave her a Jesus Calling book. And anyway, fast forward about five days later. I’m sitting with Denny and I’m talking to her and I’m telling her this story. And she was like, “Oh, my gosh, you’re not gonna believe this. I have a son in law. (I think it’s her son in law. Or I have a–I don’t know a daughter.) Maybe you know her. She started the Huckleberry Foundation. It helps support moms who need help with their disabled kids. So what the what?
She’s like, “I want to help. And you have got to find out this girl’s information. We can send it on, we can help her.”
So of course, the Lord just paved that way. And I easily got her number. I mean, that’s not really easy I feel like at times, but find out who is your service member, and what’s their private phone number. But I ended up getting it and got to share with her yesterday, like the application process. And she is just, she’s called me, she’s crying. She’s so excited. And she’s so sweet. She’s like, “I mean, you know, the potential of this is amazing. And if this doesn’t work, I know it’s going to lead me in the right direction. And I’ve just been reading my Jesus Calling book every day and I felt so encouraged by it.”
And anyway, it’s just so so sweet. These are the stories– these are the stories that are just– that you’re researching. And these are the ones that encourage me the most because I’m like, Oh my gosh. Of course I was sitting there in that bathroom, like “Please Lord, don’t make me share, this is weird.”
So anyway girl, I love you! Press on. I’m so excited about the podcast. I’ve got one left to listen to and I just loved it, so I just bless your podcast in the name of Jesus with lots of people that want to hear and are encouraged by these stories. And I also just pray that lots of people are encouraged to give and that you will be provided for in a way that y’all have not ever seen or imagined before. So I’m excited for whatever this looks like. I know y’all are working overtime and I’m sure it comes with a lot more you know, details, than you ever expected. But thinking of you and love you and I’ll talk to you soon.
